[ He's walking near and around the Gallows docks, tall enough by human (and elf) standards and nevertheless oddly shaped for someone with silver skin and curling horns. Hand on sword hilt, dressed in tall boots and long coat, he is watching the passage of ships in the bay as Athessa presents herself as a more interesting prospect to behold. ]

[ She produces from her pack a little jar, wrapped in a cloth and tied with string. ]

Horn balm is kinda hard to find this far south [ She offers it to him ] so I made some myself. Consider it a thank-you, for your dashing heroics.

[ But his tone doesn't imply it was an actual waste of time, curiousity cutting through the flourish as he takes the jar and holds it up. ]

But delightful. There's no such thing where I'm from-- well, unless you're a farm animal, I assume.

Well, if we're going to enter that sort of discourse, I'd hope you can do better than asking if my horns itch.

I guess I could ask about your other horn but I doubt a description would do it justice.

[ A laugh, sudden and quick. ]

[ She laughs, too, a cute if dorky lil giggle. ]

I know, definitely not my best. It was either that or a dumb joke about discourse and intercourse.

Well, I'm sure we could muddle our way to whichever you prefer.

Oh, I definitely prefer the latter.

[ A quirk of the brow. ]

And here, [ he says, managing that instead of laughing again, and he gestures a little as he moves as though to invite her to walk along with him ] is the clever line where I imply I'd prefer to overwhelm one with the other.

[ If anything her grin broadens as she pantomimes a little curtsey, accepting his invitation. ]

That depends on which one is being overwhelmed, but I reckon it'll work quite well.

[ He resumes his leisurely pace as she goes to move with him, a vague trajectory towards the docks. ]

As it so happens, [ he says, ] I've intended by evening for Kirkwall. Would you care to join me? I'd welcome the company.

Sure, I don't--I mean, I'd be delighted.

[ I don't have plans sounds much less intentional than why yes I would like to go to the City of Chains with you, tall handsome horned man. ]

[ She shrugs. ]

Oh. Well. Perhaps next time. I wouldn't want to take a lady out on a heist for the first date.

Why not? [ A laugh might not be able to thoroughly convey "Pfff I'm not a lady" and "oooooh a date" and "no seriously is that a real rule for dates?" but it gets the vibe right. ]

I don't go on heists with just anyone. Even impressive knife women in the business of beheading demons and thoughtful gifts. One date at least, first.

[ Her smile turns a teensy bit bashful at the compliment. ]

That's fair, I guess. I have to warn you, though, I'm not nearly as practiced with dates as I am beheading and gift giving.
